Congratulations to Ielizaveta Gorodetska for defending her Ph.D. with a summa cum laude! For her doctoral study, Ielizaveta focused on the functional characterization of prostate cancer radiation-resistant cells, which also can initiate bone metastasis. Ielizaveta’s research demonstrated that ALDH1 family proteins play an essential role in resistance to irradiation, stemness, and migration. Moreover, ALDH1A1 and ALDH1A3 genes might serve as potential biomarkers for metastatic prostate cancer. This project would not be possible without successful collaboration within the µBONE consortium. A collaborative manuscript on this study is in preparation for publication.
